Lexington Fayette Emergency Management has been using the Accessible Hazard Alert System (AHAS) to send emergency messages in American Sign Language (ASL) video, English Voice and Text to persons who are Deaf, Hard of Hearing, Blind, or Deaf-Blind and live or work in the Lexington/Fayette area.
The limited number of subscribers in the program has caused us to temporarily suspend the service while we work on direct outreach to the sensory disabled community. The AHAS service will be suspended effective March 30th, 2020 until further notice.
Please add that if you’d like to receive emergency messages by email or text, sign up with LexAlert at BeReadylexington.com If you have comments or suggestions, please call the Lexington/Fayette Emergency Management office at 859-425-2255
