The LFUCG Office of Homelessness Prevention and Intervention has activated the Community Emergency Winter Weather Plan effective immediately and continuing until the morning of Saturday, December 19th.
Shelters have added capacity, but the process to access shelter has changed due to the COVID-19 pandemic. Please see the attached detailed plan for specific shelter processes and availability. Lexington has made arrangements to welcome all eligible people including former residents under suspension for behavioral or programmatic reasons. Exceptions may include individuals suspended for violence and decisions will be made case by case, but providers and OHPI will collaborate to ensure emergency shelter is available for anyone in need. Lexington has made arrangements to cover all circumstances.
Anyone who would like to receive activation alerts via their cell phone, can now sign up by texting the word LEXSHELTER to 888777.
If you see someone in need, please contact the Lexington Street Outreach Team at 859-533-9199 (until 10:00pm) and then 859-494-0470 (10:00pm until 8:00am) to make arrangements for shelter.
