LEXINGTON, KY. – September 15, 2020 – As part of its county-wide preparedness effort and its participation in the Chemical Stockpile Emergency Preparedness Program (CSEPP), Lexington’s Division of Emergency Management, along with other public safety, health and medical, transportation, and social service agencies, will participate in the ten-county CSEPP exercise on Wednesday, September 16, 2020.
The Lexington exercise will involve a simulated accident involving chemical agents stored at the Blue Grass Army Depot in Richmond, Kentucky.
The exercise will have other simulated emergency response activities as well.
The Lexington emergency operations center will coordinate Fayette County exercise activities, while other county emergency and public safety agencies will participate from their locations. Because of COVID-19 considerations, activities that are usually present at Jacobson Park will be simulated in a virtual environment. Jacobson Park will be open as usual on Wednesday. Other staff and volunteers will participate in the exercise virtually.
