
A Wind Chill Watch is in effect from late Thursday night through Friday afternoon.
Dangerously cold wind chills are possible. Wind chills as low as 25 below zero. Wind gusts over 40 mph and minor snow accumulations Thursday night could result in hazardous travel. This watch covers portions of southern Indiana and most of central Kentucky.
Very cold temperatures will continue for most of the weekend. The cold wind chills could cause frostbite on exposed skin in less than 30 minutes.
A Winter Storm Watch is in effect for Thursday Evening into Friday across much of southern Indiana and portions of central Kentucky (west of Interstate-65). Total snow accumulations of 2 – 4 inches will be possible in the Watch area along with wind gusts to 45 mph and wind chills as low as 25 degrees below zero. For the rest of the area, still expecting minor snow accumulations, wind gusts to 40 mph and wind chills bottoming out in the -15 to -20 F range. Bitterly cold temperatures will continue through the holiday weekend.
Even after the winds diminish Friday night, harsh winter weather will continue through the weekend with temperatures in the single digits and teens, and wind chills below zero at times. Conditions will begin to moderate Sunday night and Monday.
