The National Weather Service expects the first round of active weather to develop this afternoon along a stalled frontal boundary. Parts of central Kentucky could see several inches of rain and localized flash flooding. A Flood Watch is in effect for part of the state. A strong storm or two cannot be ruled out this afternoon/evening as well.
Rain and storms should lift north of the region by midnight, but the next round of showers and storms will arrive during the early morning hours Monday. This line of storms could produce pockets of damaging wind gusts, as well as an isolated, brief tornado. There could also be localized flooding in areas that see heavy rain today.
Here’s the latest Lexington forecast from the National Weather Service.
