Expect Heavy Rain Starting Tuesday through Friday

Expect Heavy Rain Starting Tuesday through Friday
John Bobel
February 20, 2022

Sunday and Monday will be generally clear and warm, with a high near 60. Southwest wind 11 to 16 mph, with gusts as high as 24 mph. Sunday night low in the 40’s. Monday will be sunny with a slight chance of showers, increasing toward the afternoon. Low Monday night near 53.

Widespread moderate to heavy rainfall is expected Tuesday and again on Thursday. Total rainfall amounts of 3 to 5 inches are likely across Kentucky, with 2 to 3 inches across southern Indiana. Flooding of low-lying areas and small streams is likely, and will lead to eventual river flooding.

A wintry mix of precipitation will be possible Wednesday night and again Thursday night, mainly over southern Indiana. Confidence in precipitation types remains low. Continue to monitor the latest forecasts as these two complex storm systems evolve.
