Expect Strong to Severe Storms Today, Tuesday, May 3

Expect Strong to Severe Storms Today, Tuesday, May 3
John Bobel
May 3, 2022

The onset of thunderstorm development is currently 2-3 PM EDT, and storms are forecast to persist through 10 PM EDT tonight. The primary hazard will be damaging wind gusts, though we cannot rule out the possibility of hail or a few tornadoes. Although we are fairly confident in thunderstorms during the 2-10 PM time frame, overall coverage of severe weather looks to be rather isolated to scattered in nature.

The National Weather Service’s confidence in weather hazards:
Damaging winds – Medium
Large Hail – Low
Tornadoes – Low

Outside of the storms, winds will be breezy during the day today, with southwest winds gusting to 25-30 mph this afternoon.
