
UPDATE: The Flash Flood WARNING has been extended to 10:15pm.
The National Weather Service in Louisville has issued a Flash Flood Warning for Fayette County and Lexington in central Kentucky until 800 PM EDT
At 555 PM EDT, Doppler radar indicated thunderstorms producing heavy rain across the warned area. Flash flooding is expected to begin immediately. Excessive runoff from heavy rainfall will cause flooding of small creeks and streams, urban areas, highways, streets and underpasses as well as other drainage areas and low lying spots.
Locations that will experience flooding will be across the central part of Fayette county including the Lexington metro area.
PRECAUTIONARY/PREPAREDNESS ACTIONS…
Please report flooding to your local law enforcement agency when you can do so safely.
A Flash Flood Warning means that flooding is imminent or occurring. If you are in the warned area move to higher ground immediately.
Residents living along streams and creeks should take immediate precautions to protect life and property.
