
UPDATE: At 10:30 pm, the National Weather Service extended the flood advisory to 1:30 am on Thursday.
At 735 PM EST, Doppler radar indicated heavy rain that will cause minor flooding in the advisory area. Up to half an inch of rain has already fallen. A flood advisory is in effect for Fayette County until 10:30 pm.
Some locations that will experience flooding include Lexington, Georgetown, Winchester, Versailles, Paris, Cynthiana, Carlisle, Cardinal Hill, Cadentown and Fayette Mall.
Additional rainfall of one to two inches is expected over the area. This additional rain will result in minor flooding.
Turn around, don’t drown when encountering flooded roads. Most flood deaths occur in vehicles.
Be especially cautious at night when it is harder to recognize the dangers of flooding.
