Golden Alert for Missing Lexington Man Cancelled

The Golden Alert has been canceled.  The body of Dwight Newton was recovered Thursday evening from a cistern on a farm off Military Pike in southern Fayette County. Newton died of injuries suffered in a fall of 12 to 15 feet, according to the Fayette County coroner’s office. He was pronounced dead about 7 p.m.


The Lexington Police Department has issued a Golden Alert for a missing man.  Dwight Newton, 85 was last seen around 6:00 pm on Wednesday, May 08, 2019 when he left to visit the gravesite of his wife at the Bluegrass Memorial Cemetery in Nicholasville, KY.  He was driving a gray 2005 Kia Sorento with KY plate 065MXL.  Newton could also be near the Versailles Road area.

Newton’s family reports he suffers from early onset dementia but has refused treatment and medication.

Anyone with information about Mr. Newton’s whereabouts is asked to contact Lexington Police by calling (859) 258-3600 or 911.

Newton’s automobile was located in the area of Military Pike and Ft. Springs Pinkard Road.  The Lexington Fire Department and other public safety agencies are conducting a search of the area.
