How to Contact 911 Without Cell Service

If your cell phone is experiencing service outages, you can still contact 911.

1. Use a landline phone. Check with a neighbor or friend if you do not have a landline.
2. Enable Wi-Fi Calling on your cell phone. This will allow you to make calls using Wi-Fi instead of cellular service.
3. Lexington’s E911 offers text-to-911. If you need assistance, type “911” in the “To” field. The first text message to E911 should be brief and contain the location of the emergency and the type of help needed.
4. Flag down a first responder or head to your nearest fire department for assistance.

When Your Service Returns

DO NOT call 911 to see if your phone is working. This will reduce response times for those in need of assistance. Call a friend or family member to check if your phone’s service is back.
