At 11pm EST tonight Tennessee State Police and the highway department will close the southbound lanes of I-75 from exit 141 to exit 160. The northbound lanes are currently closed from exit 134 to exit 160. The closures of the southbound lanes should be complete by 1930 EST.
There will be 8 Troopers, multiple TDOT personnel and numerous sign boards and barricades at Exits 134,141,144, 156 and 160 to keep the interstate closed. TDOT is actively working with KY DOT to alert them of the closings. As drivers come into Tennessee via I-75 southbound and enter the city of Jellico, all tractor trailer traffic will be sent south on Highway 297 and passenger vehicles will be allowed to use 297 or 25W.
At the moment there is no timetable for when the southbound lanes will be opened. After speaking with the TDOT they have not expressed any needs to TEMA at the moment.
TDOT has stated that the cleanup process may take 2-3 weeks on the northbound lanes of I-75.
