UPDATE: A severe thunderstorm WATCH is in effect for Fayette County and most of central Kentucky until 9pm. bereadylexington.com/severe-thunder#kywx
Expect more clusters of thunderstorms today, with strong to severe storms possible this afternoon into this evening. Damaging winds will be the main threat, with large hail and locally heavy rain also possible. We can’t rule out a tornado either. The Enhanced Risk (Level 3 of 5) is driven mainly by the higher probability of damaging wind gusts, rather than the magnitude of any severe hazard.
While any time today is fair game for thunderstorms, the most likely time frame for strong or severe storms will be from 2-10 PM EDT.
