Lexington firefighters are taking their mission to reduce home fire deaths to the streets of Lexington on Saturday, March 9. Firefighters plan to knock on nearly 1,000 doors in the Eastland neighborhood before the day is over. Saturday marks the third time firefighters have targeted a neighborhood with the goal of installing free smoke alarms to any home that needs them.

There will be a fire department command post located in the parking lot of the Bread of Life Assembly of God Church, located at 1705 Jennifer Road. Residents in the Eastland neighborhood of Lexington can stop by the command post for more information on the free smoke alarm installation program. The command post will be on site from 8:30 am to 5pm.

For more information, call the Lexington Fire Deparment, Community Services Department, at 859-231-5662
