Lexington Police Traffic Alert for Breeders’ Cup Events

The Lexington Police Department is issuing the following traffic advisory for the Breeders’ Cup and various Breeders’ Cup Festival Week events being held from November 2-5, 2022 throughout Lexington. Motorists should use caution while driving and be prepared for an increase of vehicle and pedestrian traffic, especially in areas where events are taking place. There will be officers assisting with traffic and road closures. Please follow all directions given by officers and make sure to allow extra time to make it to your destination.

Wednesday, November 2, 2022

The following roads will be closed for Breeders’ Cup Festival Week events:

  • Tandy Park Takeover Events – One lane of W Short St between N Mill St and N Upper St will be closed from 4:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
  • Historic Courthouse Projection Mapping Events – W Main Street between N Upper St and N Mill St from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

Thursday, November 3, 2022

The following roads will be closed for Breeders’ Cup Festival Week events:

  • Tandy Park Takeover Events – One lane of W Short St between N Mill St and N Upper St will be closed from 4:30 p.m. to 10:30 p.m.
  • Historic Courthouse Projection Mapping Events – W Main Street between N Upper St and N Mill St from 7 p.m. to 10 p.m.

The University of Kentucky Men’s Basketball team has an exhibition game at 7:00 p.m. at Rupp Arena. Anyone traveling in the area should use caution and be prepared for delays. There will be officers to assist with traffic. Please follow all directions given by officers and allow extra time to get to your destination.

Friday, November 4, 2022

November 4, 2022 is the first day of the Breeders’ Cup at Keeneland. Anyone traveling in the area should expect delays and detours in the area starting at around 8:30 a.m. until the end of the races. The event will directly impact Man O’ War Boulevard, Versailles Road, and New Circle Road. There will be officers to assist with traffic. Please follow all directions given by officers and allow extra time to get to your destination. Drivers may want to consider alternative routes to avoid the area.

In addition to the Breeders’ Cup, the following roads will be closed for Breeders’ Cup Festival Week events:
