March is Severe Storms Preparedness Month

tornadoTuesday’s statewide tornado drill was good practice. It also should serve as a reminder that the Bluegrass’ typical wild spring weather can strike at any time. Tornadoes aren’t the only weather hazard Lexington faces during an average spring – high winds, and flooding all can threaten us.

March is Severe Storms Preparedness Month here at DEM. Throughout the month, we’ll be discussing severe weather and how you can prepare and protect yourself, both here and in other venues. If you’d like more preparedness literature – and the chance to win a free NOAA weather radio – stop by one of the following information booths:
