On Sunday, July 27th, a line of strong thunderstorms blew through Fayette County, leaving damage and debris in its wake. One of the hardest-hit areas was Highlands Park in northern Lexington, which sustained straight-line winds as high as 95 miles per hour. The photo to the right shows the effects of the storm on one of the neighborhood’s trees.
DEM assisted the National Weather Service in data collection after the storm. The NWS has posted an interactive map of damage reports and photographs on its website. Check it out here!
