Do you have holiday lights that no longer work? Don’t throw them out! If your lights have seen their last season, bring them to one of the locations below for recycling. Holiday lights (also called Christmas lights or string lights) cannot be recycled in your recycle cart. However, Lexington’s Department of Environmental Quality and Public Works can take these lights through a special collection drive through January 12, 2026.
The City of Lexington has partnered with local businesses and organizations to provide drop-off locations for holiday lights throughout Lexington.

Lights and other electronics can be dropped off year-round at the Electronics Recycling Center at 1306 Versailles Road.
