The Lexington Police Department is warning residents of a local scam.
The Lexington Police Department was contacted by a concerned citizen who received a message as “urgent” from a person claiming to be a Lexington Police Officer. When the number was called back the person answered as “Lexington Police.” The citizen was then informed to send money by Green Dot Card to a US Marshal’s Office in Arlington, VA. The suspect also threatened to arrest the individual if they did not comply.
