August 14, 2024

Are you interested in disaster preparedness, first aid, fire suppression, and helping your neighbors during an emergency? If so, Lexington’s Community Emergency Response Team (CERT) may be for you! Visit our CERT page to learn information more about the program.

Class begins September 12, 2024, and is held every Thursday evening from 6:00 – 9:00 p.m. through November 7, 2024. There is no class on Halloween, October 31.

CERT training provides students with the skills and tools to care for themselves and their families during an emergency. Students will learn from local professionals how to put out fires, provide disaster medical assistance, and help their neighborhood during an emergency. They will also learn about disaster preparedness, psychological first aid, the incident command system, and terrorism. The class finishes with a disaster exercise during which students will practice the skills learned during training.

Requirements

To join, you must be at least 18 years old, live or work in Fayette County, and pass a criminal background check.
