Update: The shelter at the Senior Center has closed as of 8am on Monday.
Residents who are without electricity and have non-emergency medical needs can find shelter tonight at the Senior Center.
“These are people who health is dependent upon electricity,” said Ken Armstrong, the City’s Commissioner of Public Safety.
Pat Dugger, Director of the Division of Emergency Management, said the shelter will open at 6 p.m., and remain open overnight. The division began taking calls this morning from people who needed non-emergency medical assistance because of the power outage.
“We had enough demand that we felt we should have a place people could find help overnight,” Dugger said.
For more information on the Senior Center shelter call 859-258-3600. People with medical emergencies should call 9-1-1.
The Senior Center is located at 195 Life Lane, behind the Southland Christian Church Richmond Road location.
