The snow event tonight has been upgraded to a winter weather advisory.
Snow expected. Total snow accumulations of up to one inch, with locally higher amounts possible in heavier showers. Winds gusting as high as 35 mph in showers.
A small disturbance over Illinois today will slide southeast into the Ohio Valley this evening. With temperatures starting out above freezing, precipitation associated with this feature should start out as rain showers or a mix of rain and snow showers before transitioning to all snow showers as temperatures drop this evening.
Rain showers may affect the first part of the Friday evening rush, with snow showers for the second half of the rush and into the late evening hours.
With warm ground temperatures, any accumulation will initially be on rooftops and grassy areas. After the sun sets and temperatures start to cool, slick spots will develop on roadways…especially elevated and untreated surfaces.
If you’re headed out this evening, plan for the possibility of slick spots and taking some extra time to reach your destination.
