A potent cold front moving through the region is bringing strong winds and some hail to the region this evening. Reports of near 50 mph have occurred over the last hour from Louisville to near Lebanon in Kentucky. In addition, the stronger storms have been bringing in hail to near the size of quarters. The strength of
these storms should subside by Midnight, as they continue to travel east and northeastward.
Some of the stronger winds have come outside of thunderstorms. Be prepared for a quick change in conditions, and take shelter as these showers move through the region.
The National Weather Service has issued a special weather statement for Fayette County and Lexington for tonight until 7:30pm.
A strong storm system over the upper Midwest is creating gusty conditions in the Ohio River Valley late this afternoon and evening. South and southwest winds could gust between 35 and 40
mph at times through tonight. In addition, scattered showers may develop this evening with the strongest showers producing isolated gusts greater than 40 mph.
