LEXINGTON, KY. (September 16, 2025) – Lexington Emergency Management, in collaboration with Lexington Parks & Recreation, is pleased to announce the addition of two new outdoor warning sirens.
The first siren is in Cardinal Run Park North (2000 block of Parkers Mill Road). The second siren is positioned to alert those in Davis Park and is located behind Artworks at the Carver School (522 Patterson Street). This brings Lexington’s outdoor warning siren network to 33 operational sirens in parks and golf courses.
“These new sirens are a critical part of maintaining and updating Lexington’s community alert and warning system,” said Robert Larkin, director of Lexington Emergency Management. “Those living near Cardinal Run Park North or Artworks at the Carver School may now be able to hear the sirens during monthly tests or severe weather conditions.”
It is important to remember that the sirens are designed to alert people who are outdoors. Sirens are not intended to alert people inside a home, apartment building, or business. To stay weather aware, it is essential to have multiple ways to receive weather alerts. This includes having a NOAA weather radio inside your home.
Residents of Lexington-Fayette County can sign up for LexAlerts at BeReadyLexington.com. LexAlerts is a free notification system that can send weather alerts via text message, phone call, email, and messages to most assisted listening devices.
