The University of Kentucky Police Department and the Division of Crisis Management Preparedness will hold a multi-agency crisis exercise on Thursday, November 20, 2025. The exercise, held near Kroger Field, will begin around 8:00 a.m. and conclude around 3:00 p.m.
Do not be alarmed if you observe emergency activity in this area — this is only a drill.
According to the University of Kentucky, this planned exercise is “part of the university’s ongoing commitment to preparedness and safety. It is designed to test our emergency response systems in a realistic, fast-moving scenario, strengthening how we communicate, coordinate, and respond during emergencies.”
During this time, community members may see an increased presence of police, fire, EMS, and other first responders on and around campus. Some parking near Kroger Field will also be impacted.

Chief of UK Police, Joe Monroe, said, “While operations across campus will continue as normal, this exercise helps ensure that our emergency plans and partnerships remain strong. It also serves as a reminder that preparedness is a shared responsibility. We all play a role in keeping our community safe.”
