Upgraded System for LexAlerts

LEXALERTS, operated by Lexington Emergency Management, is moving to a new system! LEXALERTS is now using Regroup to send weather notifications and other emergency alerts. Regroup allows users more customization over which alerts they receive, the ability to set “quiet times” for alert delivery, and is much more user-friendly.

On Monday, October 13, 2025, at 10:00 a.m. EST, Lexington Emergency Management is testing the new system. A one-time test message will be sent to all users via text message, phone call, and email. The message will say, “This is a test of the new Lexalerts system. Please visit BeReadyLexington.com/LEXALERTS-FAQ for more information.” Users can expect all text-based alerts to be sent from a new number, 31002.

If you receive the test message on Monday, you’re all set! If you do NOT receive the test message, you’ll need to update your contact information. If you need more help or have any questions, please email lexalerts@lexingtonky.gov.

How do I sign up for LEXALERTS?

There are two ways to sign up for LEXALERTS.

1. Text-In Option
   • Text JOIN LEXALERTS to 31002 to sign up for weather notifications only.
   • This option subscribes users to SMS messages from LEXALERTS. You will only receive weather notifications via text.
     • Please note that text messaging charges may apply. Lexington is not responsible for any costs or expenses incurred by subscribers who receive alerts.
2. Register Online
   • Sign up here for a new LEXALERTS account.
   • By signing up online, you can choose which alerts you receive and how alerts are sent to you.
     • Alerts can be sent via text message, phone call, email, or through assisted listening devices.

FAQs

How did my information get added to Regroup?

Lexington Emergency Management migrated all users and their information from the old system (Everbridge) to Regroup. Users’ settings and notification preferences should be the same. However, users now have more customization abilities for when and what alerts they receive.

What is changing?

LEXALERTS text notifications will now be sent from a new number, 31002.

Why did the system change?

Regroup allows users more customization over which alerts they receive, the ability to set “quiet times” for alert delivery, and is much more user-friendly.

Why are you testing the system?

This test message allows Lexington Emergency Management to ensure users are aware of the new system and its capabilities, and that all user information is up to date.

How do I edit my LEXALERTS account?

If you want to edit your LEXALERTS account, set quiet hours, update your information, etc., you will need to go to the sign-up page: LEXALERTS Sign-Up Page.

Once at the sign-up page, begin filling out your information. After entering your email address, if you have an account, the system will send you an email, then a verification code, and link your accounts. If you signed up with a phone number rather than an email, the system will send you an email and link your accounts. There is no verification code if you did not previously sign up with an email address.
