Wind and Power Outage SITREP #3

Traffic

Versailles Road between New Circle and Man O’War is closed due to high-voltage lines down across all lanes (see map). This closure is expected to last until 8:00 p.m. tonight. As of this update, inbound traffic is being diverted onto Man O’War and outbound traffic is being diverted onto New Circle.

DEM strongly recommends avoiding this area due to heavy traffic congestion. If your commute normally involves Versailles Road, the nearby section of New Circle Road, or the western half of Man O’War Boulevard, consider an alternate route tonight.

Outside the Versailles Road corridor, most other traffic signals have been restored to function.

Power

The majority of power has been restored in Fayette County. About 700 customers remain without power, most of whom (500) are in the areas around Keeneland and Blue Grass Airport.

For Kentucky Utilities and Blue Grass Energy contact information, or for tips on handling power outages, see our power outage page.

Weather

Lexington remains under a wind advisory until 7:00 p.m. tonight.

Infrastructure

Blue Grass Airport is on backup power but is operating normally. The situation is not impacting flight schedules (check flight status online at the airport’s web site).

Power and phone service has been restored to all LFUCG divisions except the Municipal Recycling Center on Thompson Road.
