The “wintry mix” has arrived in Lexington and Central Kentucky. Temperatures continue to drop and we’re looking for significant ice, sleet and snow accumulations. In Lexington, we’re looking at .1 to .3 inches of ice accumulation on trees, fences and wires. There will be 4-7 inches of snow afterward.
Here’s the complete briefing from NWS
Travel tonight and tomorrow will be hazardous. If you can avoid travel, do so. If you have airline travel planned over the next two days, check with your airline to see if the flight is operating on-time.
Power outages due to line breaks are still a real possibility. There’s still time to check and update your family/personal emergency plan so you know what to do if power goes out. A battery operated lantern or flashlight is the best backup for home lighting if the power goes out. Make sure your battery-power radio works as well.
